Ethiopia is the oldest independent country in Africa and the world.
The country that comprises of more than 80 ethnic groups is the second most populated country next to Nigeria with more than 100 million populations.
Unique among African countries, Ethiopia has never been colonized, one exception occupied by Italy in 1936-41.
In history of Abrahamic religion of the world, Ethiopia that has 45 times quoted in the Bible was the first place where the first journey (Hijra) in the history of Islam took place. Addis Ababa, the capital of the country, is also known as the "capital and diplomatic hub of Africa" is also the center of many African-oriented international organizations such as the African Union, the Pan-African Trade Chamber.
Even if Ethiopia is the country with the rapidly growing economy in Africa today, large part of its people live in hazardous conditions due to internal and external problems. Presently displaced people (more of children and women), illiteracy, drought and Famine are common features of the country. Hence, to reverse impoverished condition of Ethiopians based on research and development method, establishing ORDA is of great importance.
ORDA is an acronym of Oda Research and Development Association.
Oda has meaningful value and respect in Ethiopia as is Çınar in Turkey.
Oda and Çınar trees symbolize an important socio-political value in Ethiopia and Turkey respectively.
The longevity and durability of these trees ties the past into the future, teaches people patience in life, wisdom of co-existence and being useful to each other.
ORDA primarily focuses on building human capital of Ethiopian students in Turkey.
ORDA then directly undertakes projects and programs, which can bring changes that could have long-term effects in improving the lives of the needy communities in Ethiopia.
ORDA is also aimed to play an ambassadorial role between Turkey and Ethiopia.
Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man how to make fishing instrument of you will make him independent.
Building the capacity of Ethiopians to transfer useful social values, skills and technology from Turkey to Ethiopia.
Serving as a bridge between different governmental and non-governmental organizations of Turkey and Ethiopia on development issues.
Undertaking researches and projects that can improve the economy, education and other social conditions of the country.
To provide humanitarian aids on areas of clean drinking water, orphan support, health, education, and emergency relief for the needy community in the countrytechnical and material supports for health centers and schools in Ethiopia.
ORDA aspires to see competent human capital who can play active roles in creating a resilient society that can solve its own problems and challenges.
ORDA’s mission is empowering Ethiopians through various research, transferable skills and capacity building programs to build better human capital and economy.
